If an invitation for some reason fails, it's very important that you don't create a new one, but instead edit the existing one.
To edit an invitation, simply click on the users name in the list of invited users, modify the contact option and click on update invitation.

When opening an invitation, the first step the user gets to is where he can search for his existing account, this is if he's ever been a user within SSG before.
If not, he will need to click on "create a new account" in order to proceed.
