Tightening Knob

I can't seem to get the arm to lock into position.  I tighten it as much as I physically can, to the point where it's difficult for me to loosen  it - but it still moves when the dough roller is working, so I can't lock it the recommended distance from the side of the bowl.

  • Hi Amy!

Does it stay in position relative to the edge of the bowl? Because it's supposed to sway towards the middle of the bowl to let the dough pass, but then it should return to the set distance again.

  • I didn’t realize it was supposed to move at all when tightened. It’s working properly if that’s the case! Thank you.

  • Hi Amy, check out our Masterclass using the Dough Roller and this should help you better understand how the arm is designed and let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Hi - I just received my new mixer.  Very exciting, but it seems like the arm will not stay in place (away from the wall of the bowl) when I tighten the knob.  I watched the masterclass video and it looks like I should be able to lock the arm in the middle of the bowl.  Discouraging.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Hi Michael, The arm is meant to still be able to freely move towards the middle of the bowl while mixing. The knob just sets the distance from the side so that the arm doesn't go back to the side of the bowl. Feel free to send us a video of your mixer and we will be happy to take a look and troubleshoot with you. Send to: info-us@ankarsrum.com

  • Hello. My Ank is about two years old. When I used it the first three times to make bread the tightening knob and roller worked the way it was supposed to and it was/ joy( I belong to a Community Bread project in Seattle and we make bread twice a month for food pantries).  Then, the knob would not tighten properly and the roller kept slipping. It seemed as though the threaded part the knob was attached to was stripped; the knob wouldn’t hold. I was sent a new knob but the problem was the same with the new knob. I am frustrated not being able to use the machine to continue to make bread or anything else. I’ve had to resort to making bread by hand- a lot of work for
    my arthritic hands.
Machine was bought 2-18-22 and registered.

  • Hi. When I use the roller I move it away from the side of the bowl and tighten the knob. But when the arm starts moving it starts loosening the knob and it’s back against the side of the bowl again. I have been careful not to overtighten the knob. Any suggestions? Thank you
    Gary
  • Hi Gary, you might remove the tension knob and make sure there is a small spring inside the knob. If the knob has ever been removed before, it is possible the spring fell out without anyone noticing. Without that spring, the knob will not hold the arm in place. If you are located in the USA, please reach out directly to our office and we can troubleshoot from there or get you a new knob if needed. Our email address is: info-us@ankarsrum.com

  • I’ve never taken the knob off. But I just now removed it and the small spring is in there.

  • Hi..I am having exactly the same issue as many of the previous posters. I purchased this machine to make dough. When I set the dough roller arm in position correctly away from the edge of the bowl as shown in the instructional video, and tighten the knob to hold the position (I understand it is supposed to have some 'play' and move with the dough, however, as the arm moves back and forth, it loosens the knob and soon the arm is loose and moving all over the place inside the bowl. The arm does not hold the position. Every time I use it, it loosens the knob almost immediately when in motion.
I removed the knob as you've instructed others and there is NO screw inside the channel. There is a washer in place, but no screw. I could use product support.
    Thank you.

  • Kim, inside the knob should be a "SPRING", not a screw. For further support however, please email our customer support desk. If located in the USA, email: info-us@ankarsrum.com Anywhere else in the world, email: info@ankarsrum.com

  • Thank you Ashley, apologies, I misspoke, there is actually NO spring inside the knob. It is missing the spring.

  • Kim, this is most likely why it will not stay tight. As mentioned above, if you are located in the US, please reach out to our customer desk at: info-us@ankarsrum.com
