Hi Mitchell. Yes, the mixer can be stored on its side. Make sure it is stored on the side where the rubber cover of the tension knob is facing down.

Hi there, what is the rubber cover for the tension knob? Is that the attachment receptacle cover?

Hi Katherine. No, the rubber cover on the tension knob protects the metal on the knob as well as your counter for when the mixer is on its side when using certain attachments. The only attachment port cover is on the other side of the mixer where the blender attachment goes.
