I read on the site (somewhere) that the white is more easily marred or marked
Can you be more specific? Is it a frequent complaint, or how does that happen?

The most common way these marks appear are from positioning the stainless-steel bowl onto the mixer base. If dropped or not centered correctly, the edge of the bowl can scuff the white finish on the base. We also see more of these scuffs from units that are returned and not packaged correctly. The metal parts and pieces aren't packaged correctly in the box so they end up scratching and scuffing the white mixer base. Hope this helps.
The dough hook is packaged in a special space between the box and the styrofoam blocks and the white bowl lid is packaged on the opposite end of the box also in a special space within the styrofoam blocks. The dough hook is packaged in such a way that it would not come in contact with the mixer base during transportation.
