Dough knife removing metal from the bowl and depositing black into some of the dough

After kneading, the dough pat the bottom of the dough knife contains black deposits which appear to be metal from the bowl. The knife makes a rhythmic scraping noise du kneading as well And the edge of the knife is not smooth.  How can this be fixed?

  • Thank you for your message. Please review our Washing Instructions page to learn about the non harmful, food grade wax that is used to polish the SS bowl which is the cause of the black residue. This residue is NOT metal and following the cleaning instructions should resolve the issue.

    As for the dough knife, it is possible that the rough edge has been caused by course salt. If you will contact our US office, we will certainly look at replacing this for you:
