basics vaccination for dogs (travelling from Germany to Sweden)

Hello, we are a little confused by so many different informations regarding travelling with a dog to sweden for a holiday. We know for sure, our dogs needs to have a rabies vaccination. Yet what about other vaccinations like distemper (Staupe), Parvovirus, tapeworm treatments etc.? Do these vaccinations and other treatments are neccessaryly done and updated for travelling to sweden?
What are the current regulations (for 2023)?
We read informations from 2012, our regional german veterinary office told us to ask at swedish office and the animal doctor(s) here do not know either.
We appriciate your information and further details, so we (and our dog) will be safe.
Thanks a lot. Best regards, Sonja

  • Hello Sonja!

No other vaccination than rabies is required.

These are the rules for bringing a dog or a cat to Sweden from an EU-country or EU-related country:
    • The animal must be ID-marked.
    • The animal must have a valid vaccination against rabies.
    • The animal must have an EU-passport for pets
    • The animal must be reported to Customs when passing the border.

  • Hej Lena,
    Tack så mycket!
Thank you for your fast answer!
    Sonja
