Triangle glitch?

When I try to move around in Geoguessr, frames keep getting dissected into these little triangles and I can't see anything. Anyone having a similar issue? Is there anyway I can fix it? It's making it unplayable.

  • Can you post some information about your hardware, OS and browser?

  • Hi Taylor

This seems like it might be a networking issue and we've seen this issue before on slower connections (the problem in those cases were that the google streetview images wouldn't load fast enough). Could you try to go to https://www.google.com/maps/views/streetview?gl=us and see if some these locations works better for you or if you get the same issue there?

    Kind regards,

    Anton
  • Hey Anton,

I don't have the issue there. I did try just using google street view when the problem happened to see if it was just google maps, but street view works fine. On the other hand, I used geoguessr on my brother's PC and didn't have any glitching.

  • Hi Taylor

Alright, this can also be affected by a few other things, for example which browser you're using and the performance of the computer. Are you and your brother on the same network? Could you try to download Firefox and see if this changes anything?

    Kind regards,

    Anton
  • Getting the glitch on Chrome version 50.0.2661.75 m and IE11, works fine on a just-downloaded Firefox

  • Hi Chris

Thanks for the feedback! We've gotten quite a lot of reports about this issue on the newest version of Chrome. Could you please try to update your graphic drivers and also try to turn off graphics hardware acceleration in Chrome and see if this resolves the problem?

    Kind regards,

    Anton
  • Hi Anton

I got same issue with''https://www.google.com/maps/streetview/'' It's quite disturbing that google have a bug on it's own chrome.

  • I had this problem then realised it works OK with Safari on ipad and also on firefox. Must be incompatibility with Google chrome

  • What fixed it for me on chrome was going into about:flags and disabling "Accelerated 2D canvas"

  • For the first time, I have experienced the triangle glitch myself in Chrome!

I suppose I started getting it since I did a Settings-reset in Chrome because of another problem.

I managed to fix the triangle glitch by disabling "Hardware acceleration" in the Chrome advanced settings.

  • Hi guys

Great to hear that you seemed to have found workaround for this issue. Please let us know if you're still having problems.

    Kind regards,

    Anton
  • Hi guys

Finally managed to reproduce a similar problem here, with a grey area being visible instead of the Street view images. What caused the issue in my case were the Chrome plugin "Avira Browser Safety" and disabling it in the settings (chrome://extensions/) made Street view work correctly again. If you're still experiencing problems it would very be interesting to hear if you're using the Avira plugin? You could also try to start a game when in incognito mode and see if this changes anything?

    Kind regards,

    Anton
