Testing My Map Without Publishing

Can I test a map I have just created/saved, without publishing it?  I want to make sure it is working and has enough locations before I publish it.  Thanks

  • You can test a map without publishing it by creating challenges.

  • Hi Waitzen,

Or you could publish it, start a game and then unpublish it, then no one will find it but you can finish your game.

Before you could play unpublished maps if you knew the id but we changed that maybe we should make it possible to play your own unpublished maps.

  • Problem with publishing is that it will appear in the activities and friends can see it, even if they won't be able to access the map if it's unpublished after. This fills the activities for nothing. Being able to play our unpublished maps would be a great solution.

  • Thanks for the replies.  We definitely should be able to test out our maps before publishing them.  Anyone who has the slightest knowledge of software knows the importance of testing.

I am building my first map and plan to have about 500 locations. I am slowly building up a spreadsheet with all the locations and I would like to test these as I go. For example, have I chosen a location that has a "you are here" sign only a few clicks away, or are my GPS coordinates a bit off from Streetview, or even, have I dead-end location where there are StreetView gaps that prevent wider exploration. I would prefer to test these out myself before publishing - even if I do the quick publish/unpublish scenario suggested.

  • Agreed, we used to have that functionality way way back. Lets see if we can put it back.
