"Rookie Tourist" a bit depressing for non-competitive players.

I haven't been able to play for a while and just checked in today to find that the presentation has changed. When I signed in it was a bit depressing to discover I'm a "Rookie Tourist" despite being a Pro member for two years and playing over 700 games. The "Trophy Case" has "0 x Gold," "0 x Silver" and "0 x Brass."

I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer not to play competitively. I'm housebound with disability and use Geoguessr to "travel." I take my time, look around, and do outside research because I enjoy it. I'd like to think I'm not the only one who uses Geoguessr this way, and for us it's a shame to suddenly be confronted with the impression that we're mere "Rookies" and have a page full of zeroes. It actually puts me off paying for Pro.

I would like to suggest that the profile page be rearranged so there's less of an emphasis on status and trophies and more emphasis on maps you've played and number of games. I don't want to feel like a loser every time I sign in!


  • I agree, and I believe also that the focus on competitive play makes for all the cheating we see.  This is an amazing service that can open up the world for people, it shouldn't be twisted into a game for cheating streamers and YouTube personalities.
  • Absolutely, I can understand this as well. The new Progression and Player profiles was something we converted from the old Battle Royale progression. So therefore the Classic game was not included into it.

    But we are planning on focusing more on Classic and the Zen-game modes moving forward as well and not only the Competitive modes. 🙂
  • I will raise a ticket internally as well to see if we can manually change this player title from our end 🙂
