Had a low scoring round of Geoguessr?

It ok.

We've all been there.

(Meant in friendly jest guys. I love this game.)

  • Hehe, thanks for the artwork.

  • Here's a pretty decent middle-of-nowhere challenge. The first location is by far the hardest, but there are a few others that are pretty remote as well.

  • Thanks for the challenge, that was a great score you got (especially keeping in mind the difficulty of the locations)!

    Kind regards,

  • LOL @ the Australia map! Awesome! I considered posting a suggestion for this map as kind of a joke aimed at all the complaints for middle-of-nowhere locations and bad image quality. This is hilarious.

The new hard mode. Well done.

  • For a more accurate representation of in-game gameplay, I suggest using this as the image for the Australia map:

Also, because it'd be even more hilarious.

  • Well, that wasn't too bad. Glad to see Tasmania's included also; it's always fun looking at a map of Tasmania.

Out of curiosity, is the game making an effort to select more populated areas in this map?

I'll also note in passing that on the first location in the above challenge, I was having this problem with the map again:
However, the problem disappeared on all other locations and was not present when I opened the challenge link. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem.

  • Hehe..

The Australia map is tweaked to go for more populated areas yes. We're experimenting a little bit to see if we can get a good mix. What do you think?

Ok, was this the first time you got the map bug since the fix?

  • Yes, that was the first and only time I've seen the map bug since the update, but it was only present for the first location in that game, and I haven't seen it since.

As for the location mix, I've only played 3 games on this map. If I had to comment, I'd say that I'd prefer a few more distant locations, but I can certainly understand and appreciate that having to drop a pin by eye along a 100km stretch of featureless road is not what everyone would call 'fun'. So from what I've seen the game is more fun, and more likely to teach useful information (ie city names you can point to on a map).

So, can I ask for a Botswana map now?

Thanks for all your hard work.

  • Nice to hear that the problem doesn't seems to be as common anymore, just let us know if you run into it again!

Thanks for your feedback, it's difficult to achieve the perfect mix since some players prefer more rural locations and some more urban, but all input is appreciated.

Interesting idea for a map, I'll add it to our wishlist for upcoming maps!

    Kind regards,

  • I always have the highest scores.
