Black screen issues

I cannot play anymore geoguessr since one day all of the sudden the game started to "de-frame" every picture.
Moving in-game and changing the zoom on the browser setting do not help

  • Hi Franco

That is a weird problem! What browser are you using when you're experiencing this? Could you please try to start an incognito window in this browser and see if that changes anything (this disables all browser extensions which can sometimes create problems).

    Regards,
    Anton
  • I too have had a similar problem as in the screen shot above, which started happening about 2 months ago. I use geoguessr as a warm-up activity in my classroom and not being able to play has students and myself bummed out. Incognito, adjustments to the hardware accelerator, or switching browsers, have not been successful.

Could it be that the computer that I'm using in my classroom is so old that it is not able to run geoguessr?

    Please help.

  • I've been having the exact same problem.
    Windows 7 ASUS laptop.
    Using Firefox quantum

Incognito mode does not solve it.
Reloading doesn't work either nor playing any map.
It seems to be more of an issue of the street view image load than anything else.

  • Hi guys!

Sorry for the very late reply to this! We've heard reports from users with similar problems that have been resolved by turning off hardware acceleration in the browser. Please try this, and let me know if this solves the problem or not!

    Regards,
    Anton
  • Anton,
Hooray! Worked like a charm. Thanks.

  • Anton,
Chrome was successful in running Geoguessr after turning off hardware acceleration, but doing the same in Firefox was not. Might just be my old computer for the difference.
    Thanks again.

  • Great to hear that this solved the problem for you!
