Vacation: when must the manager notify whether it is granted or not?

According to the Vacation Act (Semesterlagen), you have the right to be notified if the vacation is granted at least two months in advance. If there are special reasons, the employer may give notice later.

In the case of short-term leave and applications for leave at short notice, the two-month rule does not apply in the same way. However, the employer is of course obliged to notify you as soon as possible if the leave is granted, or at least to explain why it cannot be granted.

If you do not receive a decision from your employer granting or refusing your request for leave, you should contact your manager and ask for such a decision. If you still do not receive a decision, contact DIK (Member Services or your local union representative) so that we can help you further in this matter.
